We come to the close of two special Sundays during which we officially opened the school year through prayer for God's blessings, we commissioned our new school administrator, the school staff and new parish nurse, and inducted a new family. We topped all these things off with a fellowship potluck meal (the table decorations from the meal is what is pictured). We are thankful for God's blessings and pray his continued guidance as we in the church and school strive to be "discipled BY grace FOR grace." We would be remiss if we did not take a moment to say thank you to those who worked hard to bring all of this together. Thank you to the members of the search committee for their diligence in the process of finding a new administrator, to the Board of School Administration and the Board of Mission & Ministry. Also, thank you to Tal Anderson for his graphic design work on our new logo and Jerry Wolf and John Speckman for their work on the display model of our logo.
This will be theme for this Sunday's service. Last Sunday, we considered how we are discipled by grace, that is, how we are formed to be God's people. This Sunday, we will consider how we disciple for grace, that is, how we share God's grace so as to proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called us (I Peter 2:9). We will also rejoice in God's blessings as we commission our new Parish Nurse and inducted a new family.
We will close out our special services to begin the new school year with a potluck lunch this Sunday, August 11th. Bring a dish to share and take the opportunity to meet our new School Administrator, the school staff, our new Parish Nurse and the new members.
The Youth Group is sponsoring a fundraiser to upgrade the wifi system at the church. Please consider supporting their efforts.

Pictured is a model of our new logo that has been placed in the center of our narthex to serve as a reminder that "built on the foundation of the cross of Jesus Christ, the families of Grace Lutheran Church and School are discipled through worship and study so that through fellowship and outreach we may disciple the community in which we live and work" (Grace's Mission Statement). In addition, Grace's website has been rebuilt. Check out our new website at www.gracelcs.com.
This Sunday we will celebrate the beginning of a new school year. This will include unveiling a new logo and mission statement. For the services on the 4th, we will commission our new School Administrator and the staff for the 2019-2020 school year. We will also bless the coming year asking God's blessings upon it. The celebration will continue on the 11th as we commission our new Parish Nurse. We will conclude with a potluck lunch. Both services will be tied with a two part sermon and Bible Study on the mission of the church and school. We hope that you can make both of the services and be part of this special time.

It was with thanksgiving to God that we gathered to recognize the 35 years of ministry of our administrator and kindergarten teacher, Naomi Matthys. May God continue you to bless you in all your plans.
Many thanks to all those who helped put on this program today - Melissa Hamilton (our music director), the Sunday School teachers (Josh & Missy Larosse, Carla Floyd, Chris Bell, Debbie Eubanks and Erica Green), the Grace and Angel Choirs and our high school instrumentalists (Hayden Udy, Josef Bayer, Alyssa Montoya and Ella Schultz). And, of course, thanks to all the kids who worked hard to learn their parts and songs. On behalf of all inloved, we wish you a very blessed Chrsitmas as we celebrate the Nativity of our Lord Jesus.
